On May 17-18, 2024, as part of the “Solidarity Year for a Green World,” an international scientific-practical conference was held within the framework of the “Green Information Technologies Week.” The conference was organized jointly by Mingachevir State University (MSU), Gazi University, and Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and was dedicated to “May 17 – World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.”
The international conference, held online, focused on the topics “Innovative Technologies Ensuring Sustainable Development” and “Cybersecurity and Environmental Protection: Problems and Opportunities in the Digital Ecosystem.” Representatives from various universities, scientific research institutes from Azerbaijan and Turkey, along with faculty members and researchers from MSU, participated in the event.
Prof. Dr. Ayhan Erdem, Head of the Department of Computer Engineering at Gazi University, moderated the conference, which was held via the Zoom platform. Opening speeches were delivered by Prof. Dr. Ramazan Bayındır, Vice-Rector of Gazi University, Fariz Məmmədov, Vice-Rector for International Relations at AzTU, and Prof. Veysəl Əyyubov, Acting Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs at MSU. They highlighted the significance of the event, emphasizing the value of the successful ongoing cooperation between the two brother countries in the fields of science and education, including through international conferences that strengthen the scientific potential of universities. Such events contribute to academic exchange, foster collaboration, and enhance the quality of scientific research while paving the way for the implementation of innovative projects.
After the opening remarks, the first session of the conference took place, with presentations from various speakers. From Gazi University, Prof. A. Erdem presented on “Ethics and Reliability of Artificial Intelligence,” Sinan Toklu discussed “Natural Language Processing from the Past to the Present,” Yadigar İmamverdiyev from AzTU covered “Climate Change and the Intersection of Cybersecurity,” Cavad Nəcəfli spoke on “AI Applications in Green Hydrogen,” and from MSU, Aidə Mustafayeva gave a presentation on “Innovative Technologies: The Path to Sustainable Development,” while Asudə Abdurrahmanova discussed “UX/UI Design as an Attribute Ensuring the Sustainable Development of Digital Society.”
The second session, held on May 18, 2024, was moderated by Almaz Əliyeva, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at MSU. Presentations were made by Necaattin Barışçı from Gazi University on “Generative Networks-Based Ontology for Generalized Zero-Shot Learning,” Esra Söğüt on “Connection Between SCADA Systems and Cybersecurity,” Ali Akçayol on “Deep Learning Models,” Məhəmməd Hüseynli from AzTU on “Off-chain Computing for Blockchain Scalability,” and from MSU, Elvin Muradzadə on “Innovative Approaches to Ensuring Cybersecurity in the Digital Development Era: Problems, Strategies, and Perspectives,” Leyla İsmayılzadə and Dinarə İslamova on “The Role of Innovative Technologies in Sustainable Tourism Development,” and Məryəm Əsədova on “Smart Cities and Digital Infrastructure: Perspectives for Sustainable Development.”
The presentations by the faculty members from all three universities were met with great interest, followed by discussions. It is noteworthy that various events are being held as part of the “Solidarity Year for a Green World.”
