On May 24, 2024, Mingachevir State University (MSU) hosted a mathematics evening titled \u201cGreen World: A Mathematics Evening Dedicated to the 110th Anniversary of Maya Hajiyeva\u201d as part of the \u201cYear of Solidarity for a Green World\u201d initiative. The event, organized by the MSU Department of Mathematics, was attended by academic and administrative staff, students, and graduate students of the Faculty of Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event began with a one-minute silence to honor the memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev and the heroic martyrs, followed by the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Greeting the participants, the head of the Department of Mathematics, Rovshan Babayev, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in enhancing students’ worldviews, knowledge, and skills. He also expressed gratitude to everyone involved in organizing the event and highlighted that Maya Hajiyeva, Azerbaijan\u2019s first female mathematician, devoted her entire life to education and her students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A video presentation was shown about Maya Hajiyeva\u2019s creative work and the \u201cMaya Hajiyeva ICT Skills\u201d scholarship program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event continued with presentations on related topics. Associate Professor Mehman Rasulov from the Department of Mathematics gave a speech titled \u201cMaya Hajiyeva in Memories,\u201d discussing the scientific and pedagogical activities of his former teacher, Maya Hajiyeva. He shared that many of her students are currently working in higher and secondary education institutions across the country, as well as in other fields of science and professions. Many intellectuals who benefited from her teachings now describe her as an irreplaceable personality, a dedicated scientist, and a caring mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the leadership of Associate Professor Rasulov, students from the Faculty of Education of MSU gave presentations on various topics: Kubraxan\u0131m Nuriyeva spoke on \u201cMathematics in a Green World,\u201d Elnar\u0259 \u018fhm\u0259dova presented \u201cPoems and Sayings About Teachers,\u201d M\u0259l\u0259k N\u0259bizad\u0259 discussed \u201cOther Azerbaijani Female Mathematicians,\u201d Z\u0259rif\u0259 Muxtarova presented on \u201cTurkish Female Mathematicians,\u201d and Naz\u0259ni Qas\u0131mova spoke about \u201cFemale Mathematicians of the World.\u201d The presentations were well received by the audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students who had won competitions in previous mathematics evenings organized by the department were awarded prizes. Among the winners, second-year student Xasay Baba\u015fov, majoring in Mathematics and Informatics Teaching, expressed his special thanks to the teachers and university administration for their support in the comprehensive development of young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event continued with a cultural program, featuring poems, songs, and dances performed by students and local schoolchildren, adding special color to the evening. The participants expressed their satisfaction with the high level of the event and the vibrant performances.
