A roundtable discussion on the topic “Azerbaijan’s Chairmanship of COP29 is a Bridge Between the Global North and South” was held within the framework of the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World,” organized by the Department of Physics and Ecology at Mingachevir State University (MSU). The event was attended by the university’s academic staff, students, and graduate students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In her speech, Dr. T\u0259ran\u0259 Yusibova, the head of the Department of Physics and Ecology at MSU, discussed the economic and political significance of Azerbaijan hosting COP29. She highlighted that Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of COP29 in 2024 is a major event at both the regional and global levels. In her speech, Dr. Yusibova pointed out the role Azerbaijan plays in global efforts to combat climate change, emphasizing how the country not only enhances its global influence but also serves as a bridge between the global North and South.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the roundtable’s program, the department\u2019s faculty members gave presentations. V\u00fcsal\u0259 Mustafayeva spoke on “The Impact of Climate Variability and Climate Warming on Vegetation in Azerbaijan,” G\u00fclmir\u0259 M\u0259mm\u0259dova discussed “The Socio-political Aspects of Azerbaijan’s Chairmanship of COP29,” \u015e\u0259bn\u0259m \u0130slamova presented on “The Prospects of Solar Energy Use in the World,” and G\u00fclg\u00fcn \u0130sr\u0259filova gave a presentation on “The Threats Global Climate Change Poses to Our Planet.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the end of the event, a video clip related to the topic was shown, followed by discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
