On May 15, 2024, a scientific seminar on the topic “Green Economy and Modern Education: Theoretical and Practical Approach” was held at Mingachevir State University (MSU) as part of the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World.” Organized jointly by MSU’s Faculty of Economics and Management and the Departments of Economics and Industrial Organization and Management, the event was attended by the university’s faculty members.
Acting Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, Professor Veysel Ayyubov, highlighted the relevance of the seminar’s topic in his opening remarks, noting that the Green Economy concept requires a significant shift in economic policy. Referring to the “Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development,” approved by President Ilham Aliyev on February 2, 2021, Prof. Ayyubov emphasized that MSU, transitioning into a new-era university, has been implementing significant initiatives. The research presented at this seminar also contributes to these efforts.
Following this, a series of scientific lectures were delivered. Acting Head of the Department of Economics, Arif Taghiyev, presented on “A Conceptual Approach to Sustainable Development and Green Economy Goals in Modern Education”; Lecturer Yegana Mammadli discussed “Innovative Development of the Agrarian Sector and Green Economy”; Senior Lecturer Tarana Safarova from the Department of Industrial Organization and Management spoke on “The Importance of Utilizing Green Energy Potential in Liberated Regions”; Lecturer Narmin Aliyeva presented “Green Tourism: New Opportunities, New Trends”; and Lecturer Babek Husuyev explored “Conservation and Development of Biodiversity in Azerbaijan.”
The presentations addressed issues such as the country’s sustainable economic growth, environmental rehabilitation, rapid restoration and expansion of greenery, efficient use of water resources and sustainable energy sources, and the revival of liberated territories. Key topics included the application of concepts like “green energy zones,” “green agriculture,” “green transportation,” and “smart” cities and villages.
The seminar concluded with discussions, during which various suggestions and proposals were made regarding the lectures.
It should be noted that MSU is hosting a variety of events as part of the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World.”
