A meeting called “The Importance of holding COP29 in Azerbaijan for our country” was held at Mingachevir State University (MSU)  under the joint organization of  the “green volunteers” association and Student Youth Organization (SYO) and the Student Youth Organization of Azerbaijan Tourism and Management University (ATMU).

Employees of MSU, students and graduates of both higher education institutions, as well as members of the “Ecology” club of “One Volunteer Student Organization” and “Green volunteers” of Student Youth Organization  took part in the hybrid meeting.

Nihat Khalilov, Secretary General of MSU’s Student Youth Organization, spoke about the declaration of 2024 as the “Year of Solidarity for the Green world” and said that the fact that our country is hosting COP29 shows Azerbaijan’s growing influence in the world, its strengthening place and its share of participation in world politics and the interest of various states and international organizations in Baku

Shabnam Islamova, a lecturer at the Department of Physics and ecology of MSU, spoke about the hosting of COP29 as the most important event of 2024 for Azerbaijan and a logical continuation of the country’s transition strategy to a “green economy”. She also talked about the establishment of the site called greencampus.mdu.edu.az and drew attention to the special approach of MSU to the “Year of Solidarity for  the Green World”. She said that various measures are being taken in this direction at MSU.

Chairman of the” green volunteers ” Association Fidan Hashimova emphasized the educational importance of the event. On behalf of the members of the association, she thanked everyone who supported them in this work, in particular, the rector of MSU Shahin Bayramov and the rector of ATMU Ilham Madatov.
