On May 13, 2024, the “Green Information Technologies Week”, which will be held on May 13-18 as part of the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World”, was opened at Mingachevir State University (MSU).

The event was attended by the heads of the Education Sector of the Central Aran Regional Education Department for the city of Mingachevir, the Central Aran Regional Youth and Sports Department, representatives of the city community, members of the Public Control Council of MSU, academic staff, students, masters and pupils.

First of all, the guests wrote their heartfelt words and suggestions to The “Tree of Dreams”on digital development compiled by the students. Student youth urged the guests to contribute to the growth of greenery in the country by donating tree seedlings with the slogan “each new digital solution is another opportunity to increase our contribution to the protection of the environment”, and everyone to be active in planting and protecting trees.

Then the presentation of startup projects of MSU students and innovative projects of students of Mingachevir city secondary schools was followed.

The opening ceremony of the event began with a one-minute silence commemorating the dear memory of Heydar Aliyev and our martyrs and playing the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

MSU rector Shahin Bayramov, who gave an opening speech, first greeted the guests. The rector emphasized the holding of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan and drew attention to the opportunities created by the declaration of 2024 as the “Year of Solidarity for a  Green World” in Azerbaijan.

Shahin Bayramov explained the purpose of the “Green IT Week”, talked about the sustainable and digital development goals of the “MSU 2030: Development Strategy”, thanked the students and employees who were actively involved in the start-up activity, and expressed his gratitude to the guests and partners of the event.

The event continued with panel discussions on the topics “Green cyber security concept: environmental protection in the digital age” and “Sustainable development concept review: a young researcher’s perspective”.
