TIMELINE OF SUSTAINABILITY at MSU
1991
- Mingachevir State University (MSU) started the training of engineering personnel across various sectors to meet the sustainable development requirements of the country.
2010
- MSU introduced the “Environmental Engineering” program
2015
- MSU commenced staff training for the “Ecology” program.
2020
- The “Sustainable Development” Multidisciplinary Journal was established.
- Sustainability awareness-raising and educational activities were conducted
- MSU became a partner in the Erasmus+ project “New Courses in Geospatial Engineering for Climate Change Adaptation of Coastal Ecosystems – GEOCLIC”.
2021
- Two issues of the Multidisciplinary Journal “Sustainable Development” were published.
- MSU initiated a periodic international scientific conference on “Sustainable Development Strategy: Global Trends, National Experience, and New Goals”.
- The “Sustainable Development and Regional Innovations” Research Center was founded.
- Sustainability awareness-raising and educational activities were carried out.
- Activities within the GEOCLIC Erasmus+ project carried out.
2022
- MSU joined the Erasmus+ project “Green and sustainable global economic improvement in Azerbaijani universities: renewable energy sources and climate change mitigation” (REFRESH) as a partner university.
- The next two issues of the Multidisciplinary Journal “Sustainable Development” were published.
- Within the framework of the international scientific conference on “Educational and Scientific Activity in a New Time: Realities and Challenges” held at MSU, panel sessions covering the topics of sustainable development were organized.
- Activities within the GEOCLIC Erasmus+ project continued, and the “Ecoreview” Ecologists Club was established.
- Sustainability awareness-raising and educational activities were continued.
- Students and staff were involved in tree planting activities.
2023
- The REFRESH Erasmus+ project, in which MSU is a partner, was launched.
- The activities related to the GEOCLIC Erasmus+ project have been continuously in progress.
- MSU hosted the second international scientific conference on “Sustainable Development Strategy: Global Trends, National Experience, and New Goals”.
- Further issues of the Multidisciplinary Journal “Sustainable Development” were published.
- Sustainability awareness-raising and educational activities were continued.
- Tree planting actions were organized with the participation of students and staff.
2024
- Activities within the REFRESH Erasmus+ project continued
- “Green volunteers” Association was established under MSU’s Student Youth Organization.
- GEOLAB laboratory was established within the GEOCLIC Erasmus+ project.
- “MSU 2030: Development Strategy” was approved in the new edition. In the Strategy, the transformation of MSU into a “green” and “smart” university based on sustainable development and being among the country’s leading universities in this field is defined as one of the main goals, and multifaceted activities are planned.
- Planned to implement the action plan at MSU in connection with the declaration of 2024 as the “Year of Solidarity for the Green World” in Azerbaijan
- The new web page of MSU named “greencampus.mdu.edu.az” was launched.
- Sustainability awareness-raising and educational activities are currently taking place.
- Tree planting actions are continued.
