The use of solar energy panels has been started at Mingachevir State University (MSU) as part of the events carried out within the framework of the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World”.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the solar panel installed in the courtyard of the main educational building of the university, Rector of MSU Shahin Bayramov, first of all, congratulated the teaching staff and students on the occasion of the remarkable event. Stating that according to “Mingachevir State University 2030: Development Strategy”, MSU aims to become a university of the new era and become a higher education institution based on sustainable development, the rector evaluated the solar energy panel as one of the real results of the “green energy” concept. Noting that the solar panel will make an important contribution to the realization of the mission of educating “sustainable development-minded” and “green-minded” citizens, the rector expressed his confidence that the energy panel, which will perform the function of an outdoor laboratory, will also play an important role in improving the quality of personnel training in the “Energy” and “Energy Engineering” specialties.

Academician Arif Hashimov, acting as the first vice-president of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), spoke about the  activities carried out in the direction of the modernization of MSU in recent years and emphasized the importance of commissioning the first solar energy panel in  Mingachevir, which is considered the country’s power center. The academician spoke about the high attention and care shown by the head of the country to increasing the use of renewable energy resources, and stated the importance of modernizing the content of highly qualified personnel training for the purpose of developing the green energy sector.

Jemal Yilmaz, a guest professor working at MSU of Gazi University of Turkey, gave detailed information about the working mechanism of the solar energy panel and the amount of electricity that will be generated for use within the university. He spoke about the steps to be taken to increase the scope of the solar energy panel at the next stage, and talked about the wide opportunities created by the state support for the activities carried out in the direction of green energy in Azerbaijan.

Then, the solar energy panel was put into use, and the participants of the event watched the panel in real working mode.

At the ceremony, Academician Mukhtar Imanov, Director of the Folklore Institute of ANAS, Aytak Babayeva, Deputy Director of the Azerbaijan Scientific-Research and Project-Research Energy Institute of “AzerEnergy” Open Joint-Stock Company, Bakhtiyar Mustafayev, Chairman of the Mingachevir City Organization of the New Azerbaijan Party, Sevinc Hasanova, Head of the Education Sector of Mingachevir, ” Tahmasib Huseynov, director of “Azerbaijan Thermal Power Station” LLC, Ogtay Pirverdiyev, director of “Mingachevir Water Power Stations Series” LLC, heads of Mingachevir city law enforcement agencies, other guests, the teaching staff and students of MSU participated.

It should be noted that within the framework of the “Year of Solidarity for the Green World”, numerous projects and various events are implemented at MSU together with relevant partners.
