“CODE:101 – CTF challenge” competition was held at MSU

On May 2024, 14, Mingachevir State University (MSU) hosted a competition called “CODE:101 – CTF challenge” dedicated to the 101st anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev on the second day of the “Green Information Technology Week”held within the framework of the “year of solidarity for the Green World”.

In the competition organized by the “cybersecurity” club of MSU, 4 teams consisting of students of the Faculty of Engineering competed, demonstrating their knowledge and skills in the field of Information Security.

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of MSU Almaz Aliyeva opened the competition and shared her views on the relevance of the event. She spoke about the main goal of the CTF cybersecurity event and said that through CTF competitions, students participating here gain knowledge in the field of cybersecurity, build new professional contacts and gain research experience in this area. Giving certain recommendations on the competition, A. Aliyeva wished the students abundant success.

It should be noted that the teams fought on the CTF platform prepared for the competition by Adil Ahmadzada, Rahid Zahirov, Ibrahim Mammadov, Rasul Ahmadov under the leadership of teacher Elvin Muradzada.

The competition was held in 2 stages. The members of the teams participating in the competition tried to find answers to the questions prepared on the basis of Cryptography, Network boundaries, Web security, Reverse Engineering, Steganography, Forensics, Binary Exploitation, Mobile Security.

In the 5-hour long CTF competition, “Safa” team, which showed the highest results, won with 1850 points. The winning team was gifted Python programming language (Cybersecurity) and SQL injection courses by the “Cybersecurity” club.
