An online meeting was held by Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC), Ganja State University (GSU), Azerbaijan State Agrarian University (ASAU), Azerbaijan University of Technology (ATU) and Mingachevir State University (MSU) to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on holding the Ganja Green Economy Forum every year in order to contribute to the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World”declared in our country by Azerbaijani President Mr. Ilham Aliyev.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ilhama Gadimova, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Vugar Karimov, Chief Advisor of the Secretariat of the First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadov, Head of the Department of Sustainable Development and Social Policy of the Ministry of Economy Huseyn Huseynov, Rector of Azerbaijan State University of Economics Adalat Muradov, Ganja Rector of State University Yusif Yusibov, Rector of Azerbaijan State Agrarian University Zafar Gurbanov, Rector of Mingachevir State University Shahin Bayramov and Acting Rector of Azerbaijan University of Technology Yashar Omarov spoke.

Officials of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the Ministry of Energy and the State Tourism Agency also participated in the meeting.

During the meeting moderated by Elmar Mammadov, senior advisor to the Secretariat of the First Vice-President, participants noted that the main goal of this initiative, which will be implemented for the first time in Azerbaijan, is to fight climate change, transition to a green economy, including “fair green transition” and “green growth” – ” green economy” – they noted that the study of world experience in the implementation of the” Sustainable Development “triad, as well as the development of human capital in this direction, conducting scientific research by faculty and students, creating green startups, developing” green “sectors, promoting public-private” green “partnerships, developing international cooperation, as well as contributing to the identification of”smart green transition”. The speakers noted that the forum was held in Ganja, it was not accidental, the first “Green City” project in our country was implemented in Ganja on the instructions of the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and the city successfully participated in the Green Cities program of the European Bank for Reconstruction and development. The meeting participants expressed their deep gratitude to the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev for declaring 2024 the “Year of solidarity for the Green World” in our country.

Then, the rectors of 5 partner universities with a total number of students of about 40,000 people signed a memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of the Ganja Green Economy Forum.

 According to the Memorandum of understanding, the Ganja Green Economy Forum will start its work on the World Environment Day on June 5 and will be organized annually on June 5-7 in Ganja. Each year, one participating university will exercise the chairmanship and organizational function of this forum.    Other universities can also join the membership of this forum.      The first Forum within the framework of the” year of solidarity for the green world ” will be organized by ganja State University. The university also plans to publish the” green development news ” bulletin.

The reports were met with interest by the participants.

Later, poems in the National-Spiritual spirit were performed by students of MSU, music was sung and dances were demonstrated.
