On June 13, 2024, a meeting was held at Mingachevir State University (MSU) regarding the results of the photo and video contest organized within the framework of the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World.”
Aytən Musayeva, an employee of the Quality Assurance and Sustainable Development Department of MSU, provided information about the contest. She mentioned that students of MSU were invited to participate in the video contest on the topic “Green World: Sustainable Development, Continuity, and Environment” and the photo contest under the slogan “The Environment in Your View,” which were announced in March of the current year. Videos, ranging from 00:30 to 02:00 minutes in length, and photos covering the theme were sent to the email address greencampus@mdu.edu.az. A jury consisting of 9 members reviewed the 9 videos submitted to the contest and evaluated them using a 10-point system. As a result, the winners were determined: I place (Əli Qeyisov), II place (Orxan Əhmədov), and III place (Orxan Abbasov).
Subsequently, a review of 59 photos was conducted with the participation of a 12-member jury, and the best ones were selected. The winners were: I place (Orxan Abbasov), II place (Səbinə Qədimova), and III place (Əfsanə Şamxallı).
Then, Üzeyir Zeynalov, the Acting Rector of MSU and Vice Rector for Educational Affairs, delivered a speech. He emphasized that the main goal of the contest was to increase the role of youth in environmental protection and to raise ecological awareness among students. Ü. Zeynalov pointed out that this year, Azerbaijan is hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. This requires not only a serious responsibility from every Azerbaijani citizen but also the implementation of several targeted measures. In this regard, it is essential for young people to be active.
At the end, certificates were presented to the winners, and a group photo was taken.
It should be noted that various events are being held at MSU as part of the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World.”
