On May 16, 2024, as part of the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World,” and under the program of the “Green Information Technology Week,” a seminar on the topic “Awareness Simulations on Cybersecurity” was held at Mingachevir city’s secondary school No. 1. The seminar was organized jointly by Mingachevir State University (MSU) and the Central Aran Regional Education Department. MSU faculty, schoolteachers, students, graduate students, and pupils attended the event.
The seminar opened with greetings from Sevinc Hasanova, Head of the Education Sector in Mingachevir, Vuqar Mustafayev, Head of MSU’s Science and Innovations Department, and Elyar Yusifov, Director of School No. 1. They wished the seminar success and expressed gratitude to the organizers.
In her opening speech, Aidə Mustafayeva, Head of MSU’s Information Technology Department, provided information on the legal, organizational, and technical measures taken to strengthen the cybersecurity ecosystem in the country. She emphasized the importance of prioritizing cybersecurity education in academic institutions and the significance of MSU graduates imparting basic knowledge of the field to students in general educational institutions in the future.
The seminar continued with presentations of simulations prepared by MSU students under the scientific supervision of lecturers Məryəm Əsədova and Elvin Muradzadə. The students presented topics such as:
- Ramazan Quluzadə, Hüseyn Mehtiyev, Əhmədağa Məmmədov: “Attacks on Information Security and Threats”
- Mehriban Sadıqova, Zərəngül Şərifzadə: “Malicious Software”
- Anar Ramazanlı, Sevda Məmmədova, Leyla Cəbrayılova: “Network Security”
- Adil Əhmədzadə, Rəsul Əhmədov: “Social Engineering and Phishing”
The presentations highlighted potential risks and vulnerabilities children and teenagers might encounter online, methods of protection, proper internet usage, and other relevant information.
It should be noted that MSU is hosting various events as part of the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World.”
