On April 2024, 24, Mingachevir State University (MSU) held an informative meeting on the “GreenAgroHack” Hackathon competition. A group of academic staff members, students and masters of MSU participated in the information meeting of the hackathon organized by the Agrarian Innovation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, “Bilishim Vadisi Baku” Center, Azerbaijan Technical University.
Welcoming the guests, rector of MSU Shahin Bayramov said that such projects implemented in the country have an impact on the comprehensive development of students and noted the importance of these competitions in terms of demonstrating the talents, knowledge and skills of young people who are distinguished by their innovative approaches. He positively assessed the effective activities of the agrarian Innovation Center for students and young people to get new opportunities. The rector noted that the center creates favorable conditions for students from the point of view of the realization of their ideas along with the opportunities to discover knowledge and skills, work with the team, gain experience with these projects. Shahin Bayramov recommended the use of opportunities created for young people and urged young people to take an active part in the hackathon.
The mentor of the infosession, Fira Jalilova, gave detailed information about the hackathon that will be organized within the framework of the “2024 Azerbaijan International Agricultural Exhibition” (Caspian Agro), which will be held on may 15-17. She said that the purpose of the hackathon is to develop special software, smart solutions in the field of Agriculture with the participation of students of the country’s leading higher education institutions within the framework of the “Year of Solidarity for the Green world”, to promote the role and importance of innovation in the agricultural sphere among young people. Finding and preparing certain technological solutions in accordance with the terms of reference given in the competition is designed for a period of 29 hours 29 minutes 29 seconds. F.Jalilova said that such a calculation of the time set for the implementation of the task is to draw attention to the fact that our country will host the 29th Session of the Conference of parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change-COP29 in 2024.
Anar Jafarov, director of the agrarian Innovation Center, Togrul Gafarbayli, head of the protocol sector of the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Gamat Karimov, director of the “Bilishim Vadisi Baku” Center, gave detailed information about the Hackathon competition held in order to increase the interest of young people in projects and startup programs implemented in the agrarian sector. They noted that the importance of hackathon for students to realize their career development and innovative ideas is very great.Therefore, they called students for active participation in”GreenAgroHack”.
At the end, the questions of the participants were answered.
It should be noted that to participate in the hackathon, teams consisting of students of at least two different universities can apply for a maximum of 5 people (with a minimum of 1 woman and 1 person from previous years’ graduate students as a mentor) or individually. Individual applicants will be grouped into 5-member teams by the organizing committee after the applications are over.
